About

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist Candidate (CSAT-Candidate). I see a variety of clients in my private practice, Highest Heights Individual and Family Therapy LLC, and I work through Spartanburg County School District 3 as an independently contracted therapist, where I see students of all ages.

As a Level-2 Mindfulness Coach, through the “Unified Mindfulness” system, I also teach clients how to apply mindfulness meditation skills to daily life. In addition, I have been trained in the Comprehensive Course in Interpersonal Neurobiology through the Mindsight Institute, and my therapeutic style is greatly influenced by Psychodynamic and Narrative frameworks of therapy.

I help clients explore ways of finding meaning in their lives as they make efforts to improve it. This process involves developing a loving sense of deep self-awareness while fostering positive habits of living. I offer an attuned and compassionate presence to every client I work with so that discussions can lead them to transformational insights about themselves and their world. In order to do this in the most optimized way, I frequently encourage clients to commit themselves to maintaining daily “practices” outside of the therapy room to strengthen and complement the conversations that happen within it. Honest self-inquiry in the reflective presence of another seems to be an essential quality of personal growth, and faithfulness to my own practice of meditation and continued learning strengthens my ability to cultivate this in the therapy room.

I am lucky to be married to a wonderful woman, and we share two amazing children. Before working as a therapist, I was an orchestra director in public schools in Spartanburg, SC, and I still enthusiastically maintain my musicianship as a classical guitarist
